Wasted Days and Wasted Nights

Instrumental Version     Freddy Fender wrote this blusey tune in 1959, but his conviction on marijuana possession in 1960 kinda put a crimp in his career.  He re-recorded the song in ’75 and went gold with it.

If you’re interested in getting my backup tracks (maybe you don’t have a band but can sing), just contact me and I’ll send you the midi file ($4).

By the Time I Get to Phoenix

This tune was originally recorded by Johnny Rivers in 1965 – didn’t do so well on the charts. But Glen Campbell took it to the studio in ’67 and had a huge hit on his hands. The backup strings were the most fun in concocting this arrangement – I love inserting violins in almost any song.
Backup tracks are available by request.

Cotton Fields

Get Instrumental    Now here’s a classic if there ever was one.  Absolutely everybody has recorded “Cotton Fields” – from the original in 1940 by blues musician “Lead Belly” to “The Beach Boys” in 1968 (though that one truly sucked).  We do it boogie-woogie style just because it’s more fun that way.

Backing tracks are available by request if you want to try this one on your next gig.

Goody Goody

(Get Instrumental)     A novelty song with a jazz feel, “Goody Goody” was originally done in the 30’s by the likes of Benny Goodman and Bob Crosby.  But Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers had a bigger hit with it in the 60’s.  It’s a lively, fun tune and will fit nicely into your repertoire.  If you listen closely to my arrangement you’ll hear a really nice baritone sax…

Backup tracks available upon request.

Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White

Get Instrumental    This is a novelty song that became a classic from 1955. First done as an instrumental, it gained popularity when lyrics were put to the melody. Your older audiences will love this as many of them have never heard the words.  The lyrics are beautiful – perform it! Make it a line dance cha-cha…

If you’re interested in getting my backup track for this classic, contact me and I’ll send you this midi file (minus the lead instrument, of course).

Hallelujah

Get Instrumental   This is like no other Christian song and deserves a place in your repertoire. Leonard Cohen penned the lyrics in 1984 and those words are what make this piece so powerful. “I’ve heard there was a secret chord, that David played and it pleased the Lord”.  And then there are the final lines,  “And even though it all went wrong, I’ll stand before the Lord of Song, with nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah”.  My arrangement doesn’t begin to do justice to this one, but I think it will play well on stage for you singers who are up to the challenge.

Travelin’ Band

Download MP3 Instrumental    The drum track is very active on this backing track, but it has to be.  John Fogerty of “Creedence Clearwater Revival” wrote this piece as a tribute to the style of “Little Richard”.  Put this is your 60’s set and your audience will love it.

Backing tracks are available on this site for $4.00

You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet

Bachman-Turner Overdrive had a huge hit with this tune in 1973. Randy Bachman recorded one version making fun of his brother – who stuttered and stammered.  Turns out, the studio liked the “stuttering” recording better than the original.  Seems kinda cruel to me, but what do I know?  The best ever version was done by Burton Cummings – jazz style. Google it…

Great stage song – let me know if you want the midi backing tracks – $4.

If I Didn’t Care

Download Instrumental    This one’s a classic ballad recorded first by The Ink Spots. This is a perfect tune for a long slow dance if your audience is so inclined.
Best to watch the guys perform it on the link below before trying it yourself.
